Hi, I'm Dan

Hi! My name is Dan Powell, the owner of Endurance Sports. I'll be doing the day in, day out business of running... well, the business. I can't tell you how excited I am to bring you a new experience in sport and recreation shopping. My personal goal is to meet your every need. Yeah, I know that's what everyone else says too, but I have partnered with the best suppliers, resources and experts in the business that can actually make it happen. For instance, how many store owners are willing to meet you after hours if you need something now! I am. That's how important customer service is to me because you're the reason we are here. Seriously, we want to help you succeed. So whatever we can do to make that happen we will. Most importantly, just know that we are here and we will listen. Here's my bio of my passions.

I started my athletic career as a 6 year old in a well organized summer swim league and still hold league record some of which are 35 years old. While in high school, I set a Kentucky State High School swimming record that stood for over 12 years and was named to the All-America team. During this same time I discovered cycling and added that to my athletic pursuits.

In college I qualified for the NCAA championships 3 times while swimming for the powerful Western Kentucky University, coached by my father Bill, a team that was perennially ranked in the Top 25 nationally for NCAA Division 1 schools. In addition I was honored with the Most Valuable, Most Dedicated, and Most Improved awards at various times. At the national and international levels of swimming, I proudly stood on the podium at the US National champioships alongside my WKU teammate and World Record holder, Steve Crocker. I achieved a ranking of 23rd in the world and qualified for the US Olympic team trials.

I was thrilled to work for Dr. James E. "Doc" Counsilman, PhD. at Indiana University for 2 seasons. My duties included underwater stroke analysis for the US national team members as well as hundreds of age group swimmers. What a learning experience it was to break down film with the man who actually invented the strokes we swim today and coached the most world record holders, including: Mark Spitz, Gary Hall, John Kinsella and others! Imagine looking at film of a world record holder and Doc asking "What do you see here?" knowing you better come up with the right response!

Later I met Craig Evans who turned me on to the world of Xterra off-road triathlon. I already loved mountain biking and had the swim background, so adding the run couldn't be too hard (or could it?)Like most other triathletes, I was forever bitten by the tri bug after just 1 race. Since then I have spent a lot of enjoyable time trying to master the three separate disciplines. Or maybe I've just mastered spending a lot of time enjoying swimming, cycling and running.

And I'm Craig

I began competing as a swimmer at age 5. My swimming career extended throughout my childhood during which I accomplished many things and continue to hold age group records. After graduating Western Kentucky University where I was a member of the university's collegiate swim team and school record holder in the 200 Butterfly, I searched for something that would fill my desire for competition. This search led me to mountain biking and later to off-road triathlons. As a professional triathlete, off-road triathlons and the Xterra pro point series are my focus. When time allows, I also compete in road triathlons, road cycling, cyclocross and mountain biking events.

I also coach several top amateur athletes, write for Side Tracked Magazine, present at clinics, and head up my local triathlon team. I dedicate my life to making each day full, so when people ask when do you sleep, my answer is "I'll sleep when I'm in a wood box". I am now on Twitter, which is crazy, but I am on!!! Keep up with my wild and crazy life on my website www.TeamCraigEvans.com Click Here. So look me up and keep me in the loop on your adventures!

I am proud to say that I am also part owner of Endurance Sports and Rec along with ex-swim champion Dan Powell.
